Devotion to a worthwhile cause: CR-S01 has decided to dedicate himself to saving lives, no matter what he has to do to accomplish such a task.
Temporary suspension of progress, A waiting period: His career and advanced education as a doctor has been suspended due to his recent habit of being in jail.
Adapt to changes: He has grown to enjoy practicing medicine at Resurgam, and he doesn’t seem to mind his legal circumstances so much anymore, so long as they don’t stop him from doing his job.
Sacrificing one thing to obtain another: He has a disturbingly large record of putting his own freedom, even life, in danger for the sake of others.
Transformation: He is a very different person from how he used to be, now reasonably open to the idea of having friends, and actually finding passion in his calling.

Personality: CR-S01 gives the impression of being an extremely serious, overly blunt guy. This has a lot to do with the fact that he is. The guy gets in a lot less conversation than his peers, and his typical reaction to a compliment is to carry on the conversation as if nobody had talked. Turns out rotting in a jail cell (figuratively; things don't rot in freezers) for two years is not great for your social skills.

It is because of this that CR is ocassionally accused of 'moping'. This isn't quite the right word for it, as he simply considers his typical calm state his 'personality'. To him, being calm and collected is the norm, only to be affected when outside factors enter the equation.

CR is not quite as skillful at observations as some of his coworkers, but he certainly doesn’t slack off in that department. Obviously, he’s able to make his fair share of inferences when it comes to medical matters, but he’s able to catch people lying by memorizing such facts as the exact distance from one location to another.

CR’s cool can be easily broken. His default expression is ‘complete deadpan’, but he reacts to danger and ridiculous events as quickly as any other person. He does, however, have a hard time playing the straight man as well, not being able to fully articulate his protests during these times.

Several of these traits have been recently diminished in light of CR finding passion in his calling, yet he’s still unable to easily smile, for entirely physiological reasons. It isn’t elaborated in depth, but it is implied that, having spent so much time in freezing temeratures, his body conserves heat by minimizing use of his muscles.

He takes the words of others to heart, despite his aforementioned habit of not letting them get in the way of his day-to-day. Many of his decisions, including his motivation for remaining in the medical profession, come from speeches given by others. Through this, he starts displaying more personal characteristics, such as expressidislike for his jail cell


These attempts bring us to CR's defining trait, which is the importance he puts on the lives of his patients. You wouldn't think it from his personality, but he sheds a large part of his calm nature while operating. During these times, he is completely focused, willing to do everything in his power to save people. This carries into his normal life, and CR is absolutely willing to risk his life and freedom if it will save someone.

Canon Powers: CR just so happens to be a really, really good surgeon, having grown with an excellent tutor/father figure. His knowledge of actual medical theory seems to be substantial as well.

1st Person Example

[It takes a while for the man in the video to start talking. As if he's not used to starting conversation.]

I wish to offer medical help to anyone who needs it. I... assume most of us come from worlds safer than this one. The more resources available to all of us, the better.

[It's worth noting that he hasn't mentioned what hospital he's affiliated to. CR's not exactly sure if he should return to a hospital right away, given his track record.]

3rd Person Example

Despite being the middle of winter, CR-S01 had found himself turning the air conditioner in his room to its lowest temperature. While not particularly fond of the cold at all, his body had grown accustomed to freezing climates. It wasn't worrying, as even this was much warmer than his previous accommodations. Matter of time until normal temperatures became the norm. Besides, there were other troubles on his mind.

There was something unsettling about seeing people fight on a daily basis. For the vast majority of his patients, the threat of death was an unforeseen one, brought down upon them entirely by the actions of others, or those they did not realize could be detrimental to their health. Here, they actively sought out danger, even if for a purpose.

"...Am I approaching this the wrong way?"

It didn't make CR feel anger. Few things did. His job was to rectify the consequences of bodily harm, not avoid it. Not before patients were brought into the hospital, anyways. Still, it made him think if he was really reacting the proper way. There were people out there working for a cause, attempting to attain their goals. Why was he missing from that group?

Perhaps it was a matter of what goals people had. CR-S01 is not a person that depends on his environment. So long as there are lives to save, his purpose is still valid. Why should he be bothered by that? If anything, it provides less troubling thoughts to ail him in the OR.

An attempt at a smile. One of his obligations, even in this place. Looks like things haven't changed all that much.
